SENIOR DIVISON

AGE 15 YEARS+
HIMA’s Senior Divison offers an intensive, rigorous and nurturing environment for devoted and serious students of the violin, viola and cello, aged 15 and up.
During the seminar, each student will receive:
7 private lessons (45 mins)
8 hours of chamber music coaching, studying two contrasting works
Masterclass
Rehearsals with staff pianists
Daily lunch with all students and faculty (included in the festival tuition)
Their own practice room and occasional practice help from the resident Young Artists.
Perform their solo and chamber works in the student recital series.
The daily schedule begins with students arriving at 8am. All individual practice, lessons,monitored practice and piano rehearsals occur between 8am-12:30pm. Following lunch, afternoons consist of chamber music rehearsals, chamber music lessons, masterclasses, talks, social events and various performance opportunities for the students.
Students are expected to:
Practice a minimum of 4 hours per day
Rehearse with their chamber group 2 hours per day
Perform in three recitals: 1 solo piece and 2 chamber pieces
The festival ends with recitals in Harpa Concert Hall where students will play chamber works.
Applicants should send a recording of a Bach solo movement and a concerto movement of their own chocie. Please submit your recording by the application deadline, February 28th.
